Progressive Pediatrics Toddler Care
Toddlers Need a Healthy Start in Life...
Welcome to a typically very active stage in your child’s life (in case you didn’t know). He or she is now a toddler – learning to walk better, talk more, move, sleep, socialize and eat. In fact, they’re learning all the skills we as adults take for granted. Practically everything in life is an exciting new adventure for children at this stage.
Since children don’t come with owner’s manuals, the toddler stage can be an extremely challenging time for parents, especially first-timers. The doctors at Progressive Pediatrics want to help make this stage easier on you and your child. So here are a few simple guidelines to get you started:
- No TV for children younger than three (their brains are developing rapidly and they need to focus on the real world around them, not the made-up world on a screen).
- Expose your toddler to outdoor activities and playgroups where they can exercise and learn social skills.
- Keep your toddler on a regular eating and sleeping schedule to prevent illness and promote healthy habits.
Focused on preventative care and development…
We focus your toddler’s care on preventive health. We provide immunizations and vaccines according to the American Academy of Pediatricians and CDC guidelines. We monitor their development in growth, speech, hearing and motor skills, while we help you teach them eating, sleeping and socialization skills. Toddlers should be potty trained by the time they reach three years of age. We’ll give you helpful advice to make toilet training so much easier on you and your child. To make your life a bit easier, we are open to alternative schedules that are more comfortable for you, and we’re always happy to answer your questions or discuss your concerns.
We regularly provide sick child care for toddlers with coughs, colds, fevers, bumps and bruises and other minor emergencies. If you place your toddler in daycare, we’ll tell you what you can expect in terms of more frequent colds, anxiety and infections such as pink-eye.
