Breastfeeding Guidelines…
Make sure your baby is latching on and receiving milk. Aim for 8-12 feedings per day for 20 or 30 minutes each. Keep track of how often your newborn urinates to help us assess feeding success. Don’t bundle your baby too heavily when breast feeding. Ask us about the best breast feeding positions. Plan to breastfeed your baby for at least the first six months. There is no age limit on how long a child should breastfed, and breast feeding practices vary according to family habits and culture.
For your comfort and convenience, we have a private breast feeding room available for moms who may feel self-conscious or anxious about breast feeding more publicly. Should you decide not to breastfeed and use formula instead, we will support that decision, as well.
Pumping Guidelines…
Follow the “Rule of 5” for expressed milk. Do not keep it at room temperature for more than 5 hours, refrigerate for more than 5 days or store in the freezer for more than 5 months.
